As is the usual case each year in California ’s political process, 2007 has been filled with advocacy “opportunities” for the chemical industry. Regrettably, a chemical ban bill made it to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desk. The bill bans phthalates in toys and childcare products for children under the age of three. As a bellwether state, California ’s action can be expected to spread to other states and perhaps even the federal level.
